A monthly co-working hub for indie game developers

Game development can be a lonely business.

Most indie developers spend their days working alone at home, in cafés, or bouncing between Discord servers.

Sometimes what you really need is simple: a good workspace, other developers around you, and a day where you can just focus and get things done.

That’s what GDHQ is for.

Game Dev HQ (GDHQ) is a monthly co-working hub run by Game Dev Local, designed specifically for indie game developers.

It’s a place to work alongside other devs, share ideas, get feedback, and feel part of a real development community.

No conference talks.
No pressure to network.
Just a productive day in a room full of people building games.

WHEN + WHERE

Pricing

We’ve kept the pricing for GDHQ intentionally simple and affordable.

Running a regular physical space in central London comes with real costs. Even with the incredible generosity of Sutherland Labs providing the room, there are still operational costs involved in organising, coordinating, and running the programme each month.

Our goal isn’t to profit from this. It’s simply to make the hub sustainable so it can continue to exist and grow for the indie community.

Individual

£10 per month

This gives you access to the GDHQ co-working day on the first Friday of every month.

For the cost of a couple of coffees, you get a full day working in a professional studio environment alongside other game developers.

Studio Teams

If you’re coming as a team, we’ve made it cheaper per person so studios can work together.

Teams up to 5 people — £40 per month
Teams of 6–8 people — £60 per month

Larger teams

If your team is larger than eight people, just drop us an email and we’ll work something out.

What the space includes

Our host venue Sutherland Labs has generously donated one of their collaborative studio spaces for the community to use.

Expect a professional studio environment with:

• Free high-speed Wi-Fi
• Floor-to-ceiling whiteboards
• Breakout areas for collaboration
• Plenty of workspace and power
• Complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks and sweet treats
• Access to printers, chargers and adapters if needed

Food can be brought with you, and there are plenty of great options nearby in Covent Garden.

THE SPACE

What a GDHQ day looks like

There’s no strict schedule.

People arrive throughout the morning, grab a desk, and get to work.

Some developers work quietly on their projects all day.

Some collaborate with teammates.

Some grab quick feedback from other devs in the room.

Occasionally we may run:

• short talks
• informal workshops
• playtesting moments
• end-of-day socials

But the core of GDHQ will always be the same:

A productive workspace for indie developers.

A 9-Month Trial

We’re launching GDHQ as a 9-month trial programme starting:

April 3rd

The goal is simple.

If the community uses it, we grow it.

More days.
More spaces.

More opportunities for indie developers to work together.

But the only way that happens is if people actually show up and use it.

So if you want a permanent indie dev co-working hub in London…

this is the moment to help build it.

DAY TO DAY

Who this is for

GDHQ is for people actively working in games, including:

• Indie developers
• Solo devs
• Small studios
• Game artists
• Designers
• Programmers
• Producers
• Audio devs
• Students about to enter the industry

If you’re building games and want to work around other people doing the same thing, you’ll fit right in.

Community first

Game Dev Local exists to support and connect indie developers.

Everything we do is about building stronger communities, sharing knowledge, and helping developers move forward in their careers.

GDHQ is simply the next step in that mission:
creating a real physical hub where developers can work side-by-side.

Huge thanks to Sutherland Labs for helping make this possible.
